Banana-Cinnamon Tea Recipe for Deeper, Fulfilling Sleep (ready for bed in 10-minutes!)
In this popular, proven banana-cinnamon-cherry tea recipe I’m happy to reveal a couple of easy, fast and natural ways to sleep (and stay asleep). Using natural ingredients you probably already have at home. Do you ever have trouble getting to sleep? Most of us do, from time-to-time. Why?
In our modern world, shift-work, stress, money-worries and more can all add up to a poor night’s sleep. Not to mention that in less than 120 years (due to electricity) humans have gone from gradual relaxation after the sun went down… to bright lights at all hours, TV until midnight (or beyond) and worse.
This special banana tea recipe (amazingly beneficial because we’re also extracting the ample benefits of the banana SKIN, more potent than the banana itself) should help you get to sleep fast, and stay in the land of nod for hours. For essential oil fans in particular, lower down on this page I reveal how to take advantage of cinnamon oil (for flavor & more) and lavender essential oil (for aromatherapy) to help you sleep. You’ll also see how the tart cherries in this recipe flood the tea with beneficial, purple, phyto-elements from nature that help you stay asleep.
Natural Ingredients You’ll Need for this Delicious Tea
- 1 organic banana (keep the peel ON)
- 1 small pot of water
- Crushed cinnamon stick, cinnamon powder, or cinnamon oil
- Natural stevia syrup to sweeten (helps lower blood sugar levels while honey raises it)
- (optional) approx 6 cherries or organic cherry-juice (addition of cherries helps you STAY asleep after you drift-off because they are one of the few fruits to contain high levels of beneficial phytochemicals, including melatonin)
Step 1. Wash the banana well and cut ends off banana, as shown below
Step 2. Boil water (spring water or filtered is often better than tap water)
Step 3. Add your banana (with peel still ON) to the fresh boiling water and wait for about 10 minutes (also add the optional cherries or tart cherry juice as an option, for extra sleep benefits)
Step 4. Here you can clearly see how the beneficial elements in the cherries have been naturally extracted, with the color of the tea becoming a deep-purple.
Next, add your choice of powdered cinnamon; crushed cinnamon stick or cinnamon oil. Drop in natural stevia syrup, to taste (stevia is a shrub native to subtropical America- the leaves are a very low-calorie substitute for sugar or honey – only much better because stevia can actually lower your blood-sugar, instead of raising it, as honey and sugar may do)
Step 5. Allow your tea to cool somewhat – then enjoy some delicious drinkable, sleep-inducing magic!
Bonus use of banana in the morning: place banana in fridge overnight…remove peel and eat your cool, soft cinnamon and cherry-infused banana, with some yogurt and fresh cinnamon for breakfast.
How do these Banana-Cinnamon Tea Ingredients Work to Naturally Help You Sleep?
Bananas are very rich in potassium & magnesium – two muscle-relaxants and beneficial elements for healthy living. However, what many folks don’t yet know is this; banana PEEL has even more, potassium and magnesium than the banana itself. magnesium is the most important mineral for muscle relaxation and can even help reduce aches and pains.
Magnesium is one of the first elements to be depleted from our bodies when we are stressed. This banana-cinnamon recipe will help boost your magnesium levels, allowing you to better cope with stress, relax and fall asleep.
Cherries naturally contain melatonin, which helps you get to sleep and perhaps even more importantly, stay asleep.
And while many of us have never considered including banana peels in any recipe (often throwing it away without a thought) in this recipe we left it on the banana in our special natural-therapy, sleep-inducing tea recipe.
Cinnamon or cinnamon oil is a very good thing to include in your night-time ritual because it’s one of the best ways to balance blood sugar levels; the oils in cinnamon naturally help your hormones behave in a way conducive to more fulfilling sleep for you.
Additional sleep tips to help you, in the hour leading up to bed-time;
- avoid viewing your cellphone, tablet, or laptop (television is considered not so bad because you will be at a distance)
- place drops of lavender essential oil on your pillow at night-time – lavender aromatherapy is helpful for sleep
