Here’s a tip that makes any essential oils last three times longer, and a lot more safely – use a carrier oil!

Marie from Swiss-Ultimate here, with a new essential oil tip. Today, I’d like to show you how you can make nearly all essential oils you use for skincare, way more effective (and last longer).

First, whenever you use essential oils for skincare, please always ensure you dilute the essential oil with what’s known as a “carrier oil”. It’s called this because it “carries” the essential oil to where it needs to work (i.e. your skin

[:O)

Why do we use a carrier oil? Because most essential oils are too strong to be used directly on the skin. An essential oil is an “essence” of the original plant, fruit or other natural source.

Just because the source is natural, doesn’t mean it isn’t strong. (too strong to use directly on the skin, quite often). The last thing we want is for any essential oil to provoke a reaction on your skin.

The generally recommended ratio for dilution is this; 3 to 1. That’s 3 parts carrier oil, to 1 part essential oil.

VIDEO: here’s a video on how to use a very common (and effective) anti-aging skin care essential oil, Frankincense oil, and how to dilute the essential oil first, using a carrier oil;

Carrier oils are made from natural sources. Commonly a fruit, vegetable or other oil. Common carrier oils are; coconut, grapeseed, apricot kernel, jojoba, olive and sweet almond (you can see more examples, below, on Amazon).
